What is wrong with my appliance and is it worth fixing?

Washing machine repair, dishwasher repair, cooker repair, tumble dryer repair, fridge repair, freezer repair, help and technical advice.

A local repair service that offers help and advice nationally.

I am a Bristol based domestic appliance service engineer. I provide a local call out service for faulty domestic appliances. I also offer help and advice on domestic appliances, both locally and nationally, should you need it. The advice on offer is delivered in two ways:

  • By telephone
  • Via e-mail

Telephone advice

If you are local and wish to call me out, ring the number listed below. You can also ring this number from anywhere in the UK if you require some technical advice.

The kind of people who seek technical advice are those who feel comfortable with working on their own appliances but require help and support from a professional.

I have been solving domestic appliance faults for over 15 years. The majority of these faults are simple and easily fixed, often to the customers amazement.

E-mail advice

This email service has the advantage of providing you with an informed choice, while saving you large sums of money on inspection or call out charges.

If you decide to call in a repair service, you will also have enough information to guard against unscrupolous traders, who try to imply that your appliance fault is more serious than it actually is.

Reporting a fault

There is a much better chance of correctly diagnosing a fault if it is reported correctly. Sadly, experience has shown that not everyone is able to correctly explain a fault. I therefore recommend that you read this page as it is put together specifically to help you correctly explain the fault.

Is it worth fixing?

Generally, domestic appliance faults are worth fixing. How else can I explain the reason for me being busy? In order to decide for yourself, you can contact me by email or telephone 079 1221 3646 for technical advice or booking. and I will provide you with enough information so that you can decide if you fix it or buy new.

The advice you receive from me will be sound, professional advice, based on previous experiences and not just hearsay or guesses that are all too common in chat rooms and forums. It is more than likely that your appliance fault is one that I have successfully dealt with on more than one occasion.

My fifteen years experience as a domestic appliance service engineer will help to assess the fault, irrespective of whether it is a washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, tumble dryer, fridge or freezer.

I currently work the field in Bristol as a domestic appliance service engineer and I repair all brands including Hotpoint, Hoover, Creda, Ariston, Whirlpool, Servis, Electrolux, Bosch, AEG, Zanussi, Tricity Bendix, Miele, Siemens, Smeg, Samsung, Candy, LG, Neff, Ocean, Dyson, Diplomat, Brandt, Beko, Dedietrich, Indesit and many more.

There are no variations on faults that I have not dealt with.

Thanks again for your advice with this. Inherited an ancient Hotpoint First Edition to take over where the last one left off. You saved me between 20 & 50 pounds of a call out charge and I'm incredibly grateful for that. May you be well in all that you do. Susan

The e-mail service

This is a free appliance fault assessment service, sent out to you in a one off email. It extends to everyone with a UK bought appliance

Repair cost

The repair cost is a big factor whenever an appliance suffers a breakdown.

This cost varies considerably, depending on who you call.

Often the repair cost is much too high, leaving you with the idea that it will make better sense to buy a new appliance.

I will assess the fault and provide you with an approximate repair cost for getting the job done in the area you live in. I may also suggest cheaper alternatives.

Send me an email describing the problem for a fast, reliable response.

Fault finding at its best!
